STATEMENT FROM ACP OWEN ELLINGTON
CHAIRMAN LOCAL SECURITY COMMITTEE
There is an on going murder investigation into the death of Mr. Robert Woolmer, coach of the Pakistan Cricket team. As a direct result, the security arrangements at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel will be part of that investigation. It is therefore inappropriate to give details of security arrangements.
However, security at official hotels connected with the ICC CWC 2007 is being continuously assessed and reviewed through a process supported by the intelligence community. We maintain appropriate levels of security around teams, officials, media and sponsors.
Since the death of Mr. Woolmer, on Sunday, March 18, we have increased uniformed security presence at the hotel with a focus mainly on control.
